Forward Deployed Engineer

$150K - $275K New York, NY, US Mid Posted September 01, 2026

Role Description

TechNovaTime builds digital replica employees for healthcare. Agents that watch a human do a job for weeks, learn the underlying logic, then run that job themselves inside the same software the human used. We automated 10M+ labor hours for the DoD. Now we're doing it for healthcare admin, one of the most broken cost centers in the US economy. VC backed Seed stage startup.

The role

You own delivery at our customer accounts end to end. You show up, figure out which workflows are worth automating, scope them, build them, and put them into production. This isn't consulting. Everything you learn in the field feeds back into the product.

Concretely, in your first 90 days you will:

  • Vet and plan the customer's full pipeline of automatable work within 30 days: go/no-go, ROI hypothesis, requirements, acceptance criteria, target production date, for each one
  • Get the first automation into production within 30 days, then hold a repeatable cadence
  • Land at least 3 high-value automations into production within 90 days
  • Drive toward $2M in verifiable annualized P&L impact within 6 months
  • Run customer sessions, demos, and delivery planning independently within 60 days, without a founder in the room

Good fit if:

  • You've owned a customer-facing technical deployment start to finish
  • You write production code across the stack, not just prototypes
  • You can walk into an ambiguous operational mess and come out with a scoped system people use
  • You're comfortable being the most senior technical person in the room with a hospital exec

Pay: $150,000.00 - $275,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Relocation assistance

Work Location: In person

About Forward Deployed Engineering

Forward Deployed Engineers are embedded directly with customers to build custom solutions, integrate products into existing infrastructure, and bridge the gap between product engineering and customer success. The role combines deep technical skills with the ability to operate in client environments and translate business requirements into working software.

Originally pioneered by Palantir, the FDE model has spread across AI, enterprise SaaS, and cloud infrastructure companies. FDEs write production code, architect integrations, train customer teams, and feed product insights back to the core engineering organization. At companies like OpenAI, Salesforce, and Databricks, FDE teams are treated as elite engineering units that can ship custom solutions in days rather than quarters.

Typical FDE stack: Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and increasingly LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks. Strong communication and the ability to context-switch between technical and business conversations are as important as coding ability.
